Careva stays small, so we hire rarely, and only when a specialism is missing rather than to add capacity. Everything below is an associate role: you are attached to client work by specialism, not placed in an account layer between the client and the people doing the work.
These are remote roles, open to applicants anywhere in the world. Most clients are UK-based, so all roles ask for some overlap with UK working hours — the amount differs by role and is stated in each listing.
Fig. 05 — Required overlap with UK hours, by role
The bar shows a UK working day, 09:00 to 18:00 London time. The red section is the window each role needs to be reachable in. Outside it, you work when you like.
4 open roles
Senior Communications Consultant
Associate · Remote, worldwide4h UK overlap£450–600 / day
Lead engagements end to end: the listening period, the positioning document, and the retained work that follows. You are the person the client deals with, so this needs someone who has run their own accounts before.
What we need from you
Eight years or more in comms, agency or in-house
Evidence you have written positioning that a team actually adopted
Comfortable disagreeing with a founder in the room
Associate · Remote, worldwide5h UK overlap£400–520 / day
Own press relationships on two or three engagements at a time. This is the one role where time zone matters most — UK newsdesks work to UK hours and journalists call back when they call back.
What we need from you
A contact book you built yourself, in a sector you can name
Track record placing commentary, not just announcements
Judgement about which stories are not worth pitching
Available for same-day turnarounds during an issue
Associate · Remote, worldwide2h UK overlap£350–480 / day
Write in other people's voices: bylined articles, founder essays, internal notes, conference remarks. Largely asynchronous work, which is why the overlap requirement is the lightest of the four.
What we need from you
Published work under someone else's name you can point to
Associate · Remote, worldwide3h UK overlap£280–380 / day
Do the work that makes the listening period worth having: customer interviews, competitor language audits, coverage analysis, and the risk mapping that sits behind crisis preparation.
What we need from you
Interviewing experience — qualitative, not survey-running
Able to read a sector's coverage and say what is missing
Writes findings as a decision, not a deck
Comfortable with desk research across languages you read
Four steps, three weeks, one paid exercise. We tell you where you stand at the end of each step rather than leaving you to guess.
STEP 1
A note from you
Email with what you do and a link or two. No cover letter, no form to fill in.
STEP 2
A conversation
Forty-five minutes on what you have run, and what you would want to be brought in for.
STEP 3
A paid exercise
A short written piece on a fictional brief, paid at your day rate. Usually half a day.
STEP 4
A decision
A yes or a no within a week, with the reasoning either way.
The written exercise is paid at your quoted day rate, pro rata. We do not ask for speculative work on a live client brief.
Nothing here fits?
Send a note anyway. Tell us what you do, where you are, and what you would want to be brought in for. We keep applications on file for twelve months and reply within two working days.
